Michael lives in Jerusalem. He is an engineer in VoIP telephony, and hikes sections of the Shvil Yisrael as often as possible.  Please contact him at michael@israeltrail.net with any questions or comments about the website, as well as links to trail journals, videos, photo galleries, or any contributions to the site of English-language resources that can help hikers in Israel.

Besides English, Michael is conversant in French, Hebrew, and Spanish, and welcomes communication at michael@israeltrail.net. If you can recommend something that will enrich this site, by all means write to him at that address.

But if you have detailed questions about hiking, trail conditions, logistics, transportation, finding a hiking partner or group, or anything that will help you with your time on the Israel Trail, please use the INT Hiker Forum instead.

Richard Smith, founder

This non-profit website was founded in 2012 by Richard Smith. Richard first came to Israel in 1969 and has made about ten trips here.  In 2008 he did the website www.gazaborder.com, documenting what it is like living within range of rocket fire.   His personal website is www.richardsmith.net.  In 2016 he transferred israeltrail.net to "the best person I could find who combined a love of the Israel National Trail with a high degree of technical skill, and who was also a strong hiker."  He remains involved in suggesting content for the site.
